GOD CAN! BUT IF NOT…
Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17
It is to be expected that the One Who created the heavens and the earth should have no limitations to whatever He decides to do. The awesome power that created the universe should be an unlimited power. To the One Who created this vast world, there should be nothing impossible. To the One Who divided the red sea, brought out water out of the rock, fed millions without human aids, raised people from the dead, caused a 90 year old woman to give birth and did many great wonders recorded in the Bible Book of the Christians; there is practically nothing that is too hard for Him to do! As a matter of fact, WHAT GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST! GOD CAN DO ANYTHING BUT FAIL! This understanding of the great, omnipotent power of God is what made Prophet Jeremiah exclaimed “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for Thee”. Everyone who is fully persuaded about the existence of God believes God can do all things.
Having established this infallible truth, it’s very important, however to add this, that, although GOD CAN DO ALL HE WILLS TO DO AT ANY TIME HE CHOOSES TO; SOMETIMES, HE IS NOT WILLING TO DO ALL HE CAN.
God Who gave Abraham and Sarah a child at their very old age could as well have done it for them much earlier in their lives. He had the power to do it but He allowed them to grow old before doing it. Jesus Christ, who went about doing good and healing all that were diseased and oppressed of the devil could have healed Lazarus when he was sick; but He allowed Lazarus to die before He appeared on the scene. God can do all that He wills to do at any time but sometimes He might not be willing to do all that His abilities can offer.
IF GOD CAN, AND DOES NOT, WHAT’S SHOULD BE MY ATTITUDE?
Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you.
Daniel 3:17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the GOD WHOM WE SERVE IS ABLE TO SAVE US. He will rescue us from your power, your majesty.
Daniel 3:18 BUT EVEN IF HE DOESN’T, Your Majesty can be sure that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were pressured to deny God, but they chose to be faithful to Him no matter what happened! They trusted God to deliver them, but they were determined to be faithful regardless of the consequences. If God always rescued those who are true to Him. Christians would not need faith. Their religion would be a great insurance policy, and there would be lines of selfish people ready to sign up. We should be faithful to God whether He intervenes on our behalf or not. Our eternal reward is worth any suffering we may have to endure first.
Let us be determine to be true to God no matter how difficult the pressure or punishment. Those who believe in Jesus but run into situations they cannot understand must continue to trust that He will work in the best way. God’s protection transcends anything we could imagine. No human can bind us if God wants us to be free. The power available to us is the same that delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego and raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1: 18-20). Trust God in the midst of every trial. There are eternal reasons for temporary trials, so let us be thankful that our destiny is in God’s hands, not man’s.
