“Then saith the woman of Samaria unto Him, how is it that thou been a Jew asketh drink of me which am a woman of Samaria? Jesus answered and said unto her IF THOU KNEWEST THE GIFT OF GOD, and who it is that saith unto thee, Give me to drink: THOU WOULDEST HAVE ASKED HIM, and HE WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEE living water.” (Emphasis mine) JOHN 4:9-10:
I see Jesus presenting Himself to this woman as He Who answers prayers if only she would ask. What a Friend we have in Jesus! The Bible says He is such that is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. He wants to hear us ASK, SEEK & KNOCK. He said we should come boldly to the throne of Grace to obtain mercy and receive grace to help in times of need. He said by prayer and supplication, we should let our prayers be made known unto God. The scriptures severally present God as One Who answers prayer!
“IF THOU KNEWEST THE GIFT OF GOD…THOU WOULDEST HAVE ASKED AND HE WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEE”
There are several provisions in the Kingdom. There are provisions of the Blood, the Word, Faith, Grace…and there is also the provision of prayer! Prayer is the only provision that grants us access to all others. God has given unto us, ALL that pertains to life and godliness in Christ Jesus. But we can only access them THROUGH PRAYER. Prayer is the ONLY provision through which we can receive God’s blessings and invite His interventions into our life’s situations. How much we are able to explore the avenue of prayer determines how much spiritual and material blessings we are able to withdraw from our heavenly account. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much! If there is a man or woman who will pray; there is a God that answers prayers! Do we really know Christ as He who answers prayer? How much of prayer do we engage in? Men, ought always to pray and not to faint. Pray without season. Ye receive not because ye ask not. Pray until your Joy is full. Praying with ALL prayers and supplication…these and many more promises show Christ as God who answers prayers. And if we know Him to be so, why do little or no prayer! God wants us to ask.
What a Friend we have in Jesus;
All our sins and griefs to bear;
What a privilege to carry, EVERYTHING to God in prayer.
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear;
All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.
May the Lord grant us a fresh revelation of the God who answers prayers so we can ask and receive the impossible in prayer! May the Lord also teach us how to pray more!
