“For this reason, when Christ was about to come into the world, he said to God: “You do not want sacrifice and offerings, but you have prepared a body for me…Then I said, ‘Here I am, to do Your will O God” (Heb 10: 5-7 GNB).
“All things are allowed for me. But not all things are good. All things are allowed for me. But I will not let anything be my master. Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food. Yes. But God will destroy them both. The body is not for sexual sin. The body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. By God’s power God raised the Lord Jesus from death. Surely you know that your bodies are part of Christ Himself. So I must never take the part of Christ and join those parts to a prostitute! The scriptures says, “The two people will become one. So you should know that a person that sexually joins himself with a prostitute become one with her in body. But the person who joins himself with the Lord is one with the Lord in spirit. So run away from sexual sin. Every other sin that a person does is outside his body. But the person that sins sexual sins against his own body. You should know that your body is a temple (house) for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in you. You have received the Holy Spirit from God. You don’t own yourselves. You were bought by God at a price. So honour God with your bodies? (1corin 6:12-20) ESV.
When the purpose of a living-thing or non –living is not known, abuse is always inevitable. The same thing applies to the body. Several people on earth just don’t know the purpose or the essence of the body they are putting on. There is a vast different between you believing you are a body having spirit or you are a spirit in the garb of a body. People generally lives along these lines of convictions. Those who believe they are first and foremost body having spirit put all their emphasis and attention on satisfying the body at the expense of the spirit. On the other hand, those who believe they are spirit living in the container called body see the body as the tool for the spirit.
From the opening scriptural quote, Jesus revealed the fundamental truth about the body: The body is purposely designed for doing the will of God. In the second scriptural quotes, the word body appeared directly 9 times and 4 times implied. There it’s also emphatically stated that the body is for the Lord and not for fornication. The word fornication used is the same word as sexual sin in the Easy-to-Read Version. The word fornication is from Greek word “porneia” and it means every kind of sexual immorality and uncleanness. The word of God emphatically says,” The body is for the Lord and the Lord for the body.” The body is like a vehicle or vessel for your spirit to carry out your God-given assignment on earth.
Your spirit existed before your body. (Read Jeremiah 1:4) Your body is the tool for the fulfillment of God’s purpose. An understanding of your body is so crucial. Your body belongs to God. It’s so unfortunate that Satan has hijacked the bodies of many and made it tools of sexual immorality. “Flee fornication, every sin that a man doeth is without (outside of) the body but he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his own body.” Sexual immorality is such a dangerous sin because of all sins, it has the capacity to touch your body, cross to your soul and disconnect your spirit from God. Sexual immorality always destroys things that are very precious in life. The body is not for fornication. Sexual sin is soul-destroyer. The Bible says, “But a man who commits adultery is foolish. He has destroyed himself, he causes his own destruction! People will lose all their respect for him. And he will never lose that shame.” (Prov. 6:32-33 Esv)
Though sex is carried out with our physical body parts, it carry extreme spiritual implication. Sex outside of marriage produce emptiness, guilt, depression and loss of dignity. Plus a sense of loss of something which you cannot put to words especially for the female folks. Sex destroys your self-esteem. If you give your body to sexual perversions, you automatically open your body to the assault and invasions of sickness, diseases, demonic invasions and ultimately death! On the other hand, it you yield your body to God, God will protect, preserve and keep your body because that is His house. It is a foolish man who sees his house falling down and does nothing about it. If your body is the house of the Holy Spirit, He does a continuous repair and maintenance work on it. “But if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” If you commit your body to doing the will of God, God also will keep you strong and healthy-spirit soul and body. Keep thyself pure.
MAKE COVENANT WITH YOUR BODY
You can decide today and enter into a covenant with your body to keep it from sexual sin. If you have defiled your body already, there is provision for you in Jesus Christ no matter how corrupted, dirty and polluted you may be. God can make you clean and give you a fresh, clean bill of health. This is the Word of God, “Come, sit down, let’s argue this out” This is God’s message: “If your sins are blood-red, they’ll be snow-white. If they’re like crimson, they’ll be like wool. If you will willingly obey, you’ll feast like king. But if you’re willful and stubborn, you’ll die like dogs. That’s right. God says so (Isa. 1:18-20 MSG). A deep stain is virtually impossible to remove from clothing, and the stain of sin seems equally permanent. But God can remove the stain of sin from our lives as He promised to. We don’t have to go through life permanently soiled. If we are willing and obedient, God’s word assures us that Christ will forgive and remove our most indelible stains.
Will you ask Him to make you clean? “If we confess our sins, he his faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God through the Blood of Christ will cleanse your soul from the guilt of sin! Thereafter, you can now make covenant with your body.
Job 31: 1
“I made covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?”
Do you know that once you enter genuine covenant with your body, the issue of sexual purity is settled! A covenant that every member (parts) of your body will be consecrated to Him who died for you and purchased you with His precious Blood. Are you ready to make covenant with your members today? You will pledge to keep all the members of your body henceforth to God as instruments of righteousness. If you are a virgin, make a covenant to keep your body holy to the Lord and chaste for your future husband or wife. The same thing applies to every young person today, God is calling you to make covenant with your body- that your eyes will not look on X-rated films (pornography) and read polluted magazines; that your hand will not touch any lady in a manner that will arouse sexual passion; that your mouth will not speak vanities. David said, I have set a watch over my lips, O God; I purpose that my mouth will not transgress. As a young lady, make covenant with your body that no man will touch it carelessly anyhow or fondle with it until you are married! Tell yourself, “Others may, I cannot!”
“Meats for the belly, and belly for the meat; but God shall destroy it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body” (1 Cor. 6:13).
You can now speak to your body- ‘you are not for sexual sin, you are not for unrighteousness; you are for the Lord. The Bible also says that “And the Lord is for the body.” This implies God will keep the body healthy, safe, sound and strong. God will keep your body from accidents, injury, satanic invasions and untimely death if you also keep your body for the Lord!
I pray for you: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.” Amen.
