“*My Spirit Is Right Here With You*”
_”…so my spirit remaineth among you; fear ye not” (Haggi 2:5b)_
Imagine the remnant of the Jewish people returning to Judah after more than 50 years in Babylon. When they arrived and saw the ruins of their beloved Jerusalem, their eyes filled with tears. The walls were broken down, the gates burned, and the wonderful ornament objects that had filled the temple had been stolen. The impressive Jerusalem of the past was no more. There was no city, no temple, no king. *There was nothing left!*
There are moments in our lives when we may be tempted to ask, “What’s left?” “Why me?”. It is a cry of anguish that comes from the bottom of our fearful, sorrowful hearts.
After a long period of walking far from the Lord, we may even doubt whether He is willing to receive us back. We may be ashamed to ask forgiveness for what we have done. Our world is in ruins. We would give our own blood if we could only go back and do things differently. The wrong decisions we made in the past would be made right.
That’s when we need to listen to our Lord say, “My Spirit remaineth among you; fear ye not”. These words are like a healing balm for our souls. Tthey are an oasis in our personal desert. He loves us unconditionally! His grace is greater than all our sins. He hasn’t finished His work in our lives yet. Halleluyah!
Be encouraged. Be strengthened. Be comforted!
