One Purpose of God the Father
“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from His way and live….” (Eze 33:11). “For I have no pleasure in the death of that dieth, saith the Lord God; wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye” (Ezek. 18:3a). “for God so loved, the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.” (John 3:16, 17) “I EXHORT, therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time (Itim2:1-6)
From the foregoing Scriptural references, it is crystal clear that God is not willing that any man should perish. This single purpose has been evident in God’s dealing with men from the beginning. Everyman who had ever been called to be a priest, prophet, judge or king had been chosen to accomplish that singular purpose. The reason why God called Noah to build the Ark was to save souls alive. The same reason behind the call of Abraham was that through him nations might come to the light of God. Moses was also called with all signs and wonders to rescue the generation of men through whom the Saviour would come. All the prophet, priest, and king were all called, commissioned and anointed to carry out this single purpose of saving the soul. Eventually, God gave His only begotten Son!
“But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” To accomplish this purpose, God gave (ready to part with) His begotten Son, who had always existed with Him. The salvation of mankind is not without a great sacrifice, God gave!
One Purpose of God the Son
“And she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name JESUS for he shall save His people from their sins. (Matt 1:21).” Then answered Jesus and said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, the son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise” (Jn 5:19) “ for the son of man is come to save that which was lost” (Matt 18:11) .”… I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Mk 2:17b).” greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for his friends: (Jh 15:13) “ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14). “For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom 8:6).
Right from His conception, the mission statement of the coming of Christ was unmistakable. In the prophecy of his birth, the Angel declared, “He shall save His people from their sins.” And straightway as He was born, Jesus was set on fulfilling this single focus. What the Father had been doing in all through the Old Testament is what the Son continued with. Jesus declared, “The Son can do nothing except what HE sees the father doeth.” Just imagine all that Jesus did: He taught the crowd of many people, preached in synagogues, moved from cities to villages, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead and performed many signs and wonders. Everything was centered on one single purpose- to seek and save that which was lost. Also, to fully accomplish this purpose, Jesus gave Himself as a sacrifice and ransom for the souls of humanity. In fact, while still on the cross He was still reconciling men to God. Jesus also gave Himself for this singular cause. The Father gave the Son; the Son also gave His life for the redemption, reconciliation, and restoration of man. From the beginning of His life till the end of the same, Jesus was seeking to save that which was lost. Though He did many miracles, multiplied food and met diverse needs of men, yet was He not distracted from this central purpose which was the must of His life.
In order to accomplish the task of saving souls also, Jesus left the honor and the glory He had with the Father and the angels in heaven. He was King in heaven but became a servant on earth; He was rich but became poor for our sakes. He had the honor and was even worshiped by angels and other heavenly beings but made Himself of no reputation and was despised by men, all because He cannot afford to watch us die and go to hell. He overcame temptations, endured trails, despised shame and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Like a song rightly expressed it, Jesus was… “Crucified, laid behind the stone, He lived to die, rejected and alone, like a rose trampled on the ground, He took the fall because of men… During His early ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ showed us, by precepts and example, the undying commitment and zeal for the salvation of souls that should characterize the life of a believer. He left no one in doubt that preaching the gospel to seek and save the lost was the central focus of His ministry, most of the time we read of Him in the gospel, He was always preaching, teaching or healing, with the sole aim of leading sinners to repentance.
The commitment of the Lord Jesus Christ to saving mankind is a great challenge to us. That He planned to reach cities, towns, and villages within a short period, at a time when there were no automobile or technological aids, attested to the passion and throb of His heart for soul winning. He spent and became spent to seek and save that which was lost. And to the disciples, He says, “As the father hath sent me, so send I you”. Soul winning, by missions and evangelism cannot be separated from sacrifice. You must be ready to give something otherwise you are not fit for this purpose. God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus gave His life. What will you give in other to reach the lost with the Life Light of Christ Jesus? One God, One Purpose.
One Purpose of God the Holy Spirit
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26). “But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send unto you from the father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of me.” (John 15:26). “Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He has come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I got to my father, and ye see me no more. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged” (John 16:7-11).” “And He said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Act 1:7,8). “And with great power (of the Holy Ghost) gave the Apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all” (Act 4:33). “But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin” (Micah 3:8).
From those foregoing Bible references, it is very clear that the purpose why the Holy Spirit comes upon the believer is to witness of the Life and Light of Christ through the saved souls. The primary purpose why the Holy Spirit was given is to enable believer to live the life of Christ and also energize the believers to witness to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus by convicting the world of sin, of judgment and of righteousness and confirming the preaching of the gospel by signs and wonders that men may know that of a truth, in Him (Jesus), is Life and the Life was the Light of men.
It then becomes a misplacement of priority if we begin to use the anointing and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to make a name for ourselves or build a fence of vain glory of men’s praise around ourselves. Worse still some even use the precious oil of the Spirit to destroy lives rather than rescue the perishing. The residence of the Holy Spirit in the mortal man is also to enable believers to witness to the holy, harmless, undefiled and separate Life of Christ in this present evil world. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”. (1Pt 2:9). Holy Spirit is not for rivalry and competition, He is to produce the fruit of the Spirit in true believers that the world may continually see the replicate of the Life that is the light of the world even though He is physically absent from the world now. This was the Life the early Christians carried that people around them marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Theirs was first and foremost a life that shines by the manifestation of the truth among the heathen. In fact, it was as they witness to the Life of Christ while they lived it and preached it among the Gentiles that men called them Christians. What a blessed life! So by the help of the Holy Spirit, believers also can shine as Christ in this world without the darkness comprehending us. “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of the crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Phil 2:15).
Apart from enabling us to live the Life of Christ, the Holy Spirit also gives us the authority, boldness, courage, and power to establish the Lordship of Christ over the heart of men. Apostle Paul says, “But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost; in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (IIcor 4:3). And since every natural man born into this world is born into the kingdom of the god of this world, it then requires power to deliver men from this grip. The scripture describes him as a strong man. “But if I with the finger of God cast out the devil, no doubt the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his place, his goods are in peace; but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils” The situation of sinners with the devil, who is the prince of this world is like that described in the book of Jeremiah the prophets: “thus saith the Lord of hosts, the children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast, they refuse to let them go. Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is His name: He shall thoroughly plead their cause, that He may give rest to the land, and disquiets the inhabitants of Babylon.” (Jer. 50:34,4)
The natural man is a born slave to the devil, and indeed, a lawful captive. The sin of Adam conferred on humanity the lordship of the devil, the god of this world; and as much as possible. Satan will not allow his own captive to go free. But by the power of the Holy Spirit, we have the authority to dislodge the strong man by the stronger power of Him that dwells in us. And because of what Christ has done, every lawful captive can now be delivered. Halleluiah!

ted me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” The same commission we have today by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. By the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the prey shall be taken from the mighty and the lawful captives shall be delivered! And guess what? We have this divine personality in an earthen vessel! Holy Spirit dwelling in man is a sacrificial giving.
