SINGLE MOTHERING
_”Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. The shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood will be remembered no more, for your Creator will be your husband. The Lord Almighty is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.” Isaiah 54:4-5_
Many women today have found themself in a state of single parenting- one person doing the job of two! They did not request such an assignment, nor do they prefer it, but it happened and they must deal with the realities it brings.
If you are a single mother, God gives you the great to survive. He helps and assists you as only HE can. You may have endured desertion, death or the tragedy of divorce, and have been left to raise your children alone.
Please, please hear me. Today, many women are choosing to become more without fathers for their children. Some of these women without husbands are deciding to have children because they want them. Non-traditional families are becoming more and more fashionable. I wonder how they could bring babies into the world knowing that those children will grow up with a tremendous daddy-shaped void in their lives.
It is arrogant to think you are so perfect that you can rear a child and give him or her both aspects of parenting. You may be a wonderful, successful, intelligent woman. You might be the bionic mother. But, no matter what, you are not a father. whether our society wants to admit it or not, God gives children for marriage. The man and the woman in the Garden of Eden where jointly challenge to “be fruitful and multiply” (see Genesis 1:28). It takes both male and female to procreate, and it works best when both contribute to the development of the fruit. Don’t rob your children of that wonderful experience of wholeness.
A father’s love is essential to good, healthy development. You may be able to do it alone. But there are going to be some challenges you will face in bringing balance- too many challenges to willingly choose this plight for yourself. *But, if you are left to bring up the children alone, God is able! You can do it, but not without the assistance of your heavenly Father, whose wisdom will become a resource center for help and guidance along the way.*
*If you are not a Christian, stop right now and give your life to Jesus before you allow your pain to pollute the way you influence your children. If you have been the victim of any kind of abuse, or if your secret childhood wounds are still bleeding, I recommend the Father father who will never leave you not for sake you.*
