The SURE mercies of DAVID and the BRUTALITY of JOAB
Absalom was one of the sons of King David in the Bible Book of the Christians. Many times he sinned against his father. And each time he sinned, his father always forgave him. Think about the many sins of Absalom: he lied. He killed his brother. He slept with his father’s wives. He chased his father from the throne… Those were grievous and heinous sins! Yet every time he sinned, his father always forgave him! What a forgiveness! But that is the implication of the SURE MERCIES OF DAVID!
The sure mercies of David always guarantees sure forgiveness to anyone who pleads for forgiveness. No matter the type, the size and the repetition of the sins, the sure mercies of David always makes forgiveness sure! What a mercy!
This sure mercies of David is what is packaged for us in THE BLOOD OF CHRIST!
The BLOOD OF JESUS always guarantees forgiveness to the vilest offender who truly believes in Him! Let me shock you if you don’t know yet that if a man sins 100 times a day and each time he turns to God for forgiveness, the Lord forgives BECAUSE OF HIS BLOOD! If we confess our sins, He is FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive our unrighteousness and the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSES US FROM ALL SINS! THE BLOOD SPEAKS MERCY!
HOWEVER, THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID IS NOT A LICENSE FOR SINNING!
Unfortunately, many Christians including some pastors have taken the sure mercies of David as a license for licentious living! They commit sins carelessly because they know about the efficacy of the Blood of Jesus Christ. This was the undoing of Absalom! He had enjoyed the sure mercies of David so much that he forgot there is a “Commander Joab” that could deny him access to the sure mercies of David. When he thought he would still enjoy the sure mercies of David, Joab terminated his life!
Careless sinner, while it is true that the BLOOD OF CHRIST ALWAYS GUARANTEES FORGIVENESS AS MANY TIME AS POSSIBLE, don’t forget that you can only access the sure mercies while you are still alive. Mercy lasts while life lasts! There is a devil that can terminate your life before you could have the space to access the Mercy of God in Christ Jesus.
Jesus did not only come to forgive sin, He also came to DELIVER HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS! There is forgiveness from sin and there is Deliverance from sin! There is the Blood provision for our sins and there is the Cross provision for our sin. The Life, Death, Burial, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ deals with both the acts and nature of sin.
