Good day, treasured friend. That you are reading this article presupposes you are a living soul. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you are alive whereas your mates and equals have died? Have you ever ponder on the reason why you alone escaped the accident that claimed the lives of other people? I dont know whether you have stopped to reason why you had to come back to live after a protracted illness that almost claimed your live. Perhaps you dont have a clear answer, heres one: It is of the Lords mercy we are not consumed, for His compassion they fail not. (Lam.3:22)
Yes, it is of the Lords mercy we are not consumed. Your being alive today is not by your own righteousness, act of charity, church-going or religious activities It is of the Lords mercy we are not consumed, for His compassion they fail not. Many souls die everyday either through accidents, sickness or unavoidable natural disasters. Are we better than them? Of course not. We would all have been the same but for the mercy of God still enduring over your life and my life. And the beauty of this mercy is that it is available for saints and sinners alike. The Scriptures say that the God of mercy makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends His rain on the unjust. Little wonder judgment against evildoing is not speedily executed, the mercy of God!
This is the era of mercy and everyone is allotted a portion in this era whether dead or living. The dead have only exhausted their own era of this mercy whereas the livings are yet to. That is just the difference. But what ought to call your attention is the fact that this era of mercy will not continue forever. You will not always have the breath of God inside you, you will not always be protected from evils and danger, as a matter of fact, you will not always have the glorious gospel message preached unto you! The power to decide for yourself will not always be there. But now you have the mercy of God enduring over your life. You are alive, healthy and protected from evils of accidents and dangers. And better still you have the glorious gospel message preached unto you. And despiseth thou the riches of his mercies and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Rom.2:4)
Yes, the era of mercy is not without a purpose. It is given you to repent of your sins and believe on the Lord and Saviour Jesus before it runs out. This era is given to you to prepare to meet your God who will have you give account of your life one sure day. How many have wasted their allotted time of mercy and have passed unto eternity as unforgiven sinners! Lost forever! Here is your own time of mercy, what will you do while the door of this mercy is still open to you? God is calling every unrepentant sinner to repentance and have faith in the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Seek the Lord while He may be found , call upon His name while He is near: let the wicked forsake his ways and the unrighteous man his thought: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.   Whosoever covereth his sins shall not prosper but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh shall have mercy (Ish 55:6,7; Prov 13:8)  Are you a fornicator, an adulterer, a prostitute, full of deceit, fraud, pride, smoking and drunkenness, are you a murderer by act or by abortion? Perhaps you are even a cult member. No matter how vile and sinful you may be, you can be fully forgiven and receive a new and abundant life if only you come while the door of mercy is still open to you
Remember that death is the termination of this era of general mercy. And it is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgment. After death, sinners will cry but it will be too late. They will seek God but will not find Him. They will call His name for salvation but He will not hear them! What will you do with your allotted time of mercy? God is calling you to repentance today. Behold, this is the appointed time, this is the day of your salvation. And you cannot afford to defer it. Waiting too long to repent? You will not repent too soon; and you might not know when it will be too late for you to repent. Call Jesus into your heart right now. And he will have mercy on you.
