GIVE THYSELF
Meditate upon these things; GIVE THYSELF wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 1 Tim 4:15 KJV
Whatever you give thyself to will definitely be evident in your life. Paul told Timothy to give himself totally and completely to God and the things of God. Give thyself to your calling and its demands. Be sold out to whatever God has called you into. Throw yourself away into it. Be baptized into these things. Let it be your waking thoughts and your sleeping meditation. Paul was urging Timothy to be fully committed to what God has called him to. The early apostles also said, “But we will give ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” In fact, those are the two priorities that every Christian, especially servants of God ought to give themselves to.
Also, your time, talents, money, marriage and materials must be fully given in the service of the purpose for which God has called you. Life itself must be given to it. Jesus even said, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. One of the “hows” of serving God is to serve Him wholly. The Scripture says, “Whatsoever thy hand finds to do, do it with all thy might.”
Give thyself wholly to them, that thy profiting may appear to all. There is nothing a man is fully committed to that has no profit, whether for good or for evil. May the profit of godly diligence be evident in your life. May the Lord baptize your labour with profit.
With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort. 1 Cor 15:58 MSG
Note: Whatever you give yourself to is what takes you over. If you give yourself to good things, good things will take up your life. And vice versa. Again, you cannot hide from the public the evidence of what you give yourself unto. The profit, whether good or bad, will soon appear to all.
My advice: Give yourself to God and godliness. Give yourself to prayer and the study of the Word of God. Give yourself to good deeds and charitable works. These all have good profits both for now and the hereafter.
