I REMEMBER…
THE DOCTRINES OF THE BIBLE
“Wherefore I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:26-27 KJV).
“I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know” (Acts 20:26-27NLT).
When I remember the Late Rev S. K Beckley, I remember the full orbed truth of the doctrines of the Bible. You preached it emphatically, repeatedly and forcefully, teaching men to observe and to do all things according to the teachings of the holy Bible.
You believed and preached that the holy Bible Is The Inspired Word Of God and the only source of knowledge of the Almighty God to all mankind. You believed and preached that the bible is infallible, inherent and pre-eminent above all other books. You believed and preached The Trinity Of The God-Head as revealed in the Bible consists of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. And that each member of the Godhead is God; separate, distinct and recognizable personalities and qualities perfectly united in one. You believed and preached the Virgin Birth of Jesus: that Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, was miraculously conceived by Virgin Mary through the agency of the power of the Most High.
You preached the Total Depravity, Sinfulness And Guilt Of All Men: that the fall of Adam and Eve makes the entire nature of man, mentally, physically, morally and spiritually to be affected by sin. This in turn rendered all sinners subject to God’s wrath and condemnation in need of a redeemer. You believed and preached Repentance as the conscious turning away from evil, disobedience, sin or idolatry. It is also turning from Satan unto the living God.
You believed and preached Restitution as the act of making amends for wrongs done against our fellow men; restoring stolen or misappropriated things, properties or person to their rightful owners, paying back just debts, giving back where one has defrauded, making confessions to the offended and apologizing to those slandered so as to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men. This should be done whether the person injured knew or not, for God knows.
You preached Justification as the act of God’s grace through which one receives forgiveness and remissions of sins and is counted righteous before God, thus being cleared of every guilt of sin, the regenerated stands before God as though he had never sinned. This is justification by faith.
You preached Water Baptism as one of the cardinal doctrines of the Lord Jesus Christ. That water baptism… is the immersion of anyone who has been saved by grace through faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ! The immersion is done once and not thrice; and should be administered in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. You preached that water baptism by immersion signifies a believer identification with the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You also preached The Lord’s Supper as an ordinance instituted by the Lord Jesus to celebrate the believer’s deliverance from Satan, sin and sickness. And that it should be observed as often as we have the opportunity, using the emblems of the unleavened bread and the fruit of the wine.
You believed and preached Marriage Of One Man And One Woman Till Death Do Them Part. That marriage is: union of humans, not human with animal. Man and woman, not same-sex union. One man and one woman, not many partners: no polygamy or promiscuity. A lifelong union, not a disposable relationship: no divorce.
You believed and preached the Holy Ghost Baptism With The Evidence Of Speaking In An Unknown Tongue.
You preached about the Rapture Of The Saints, the Second Coming of Christ and the Resurrection Of The Dead. You believed in and preached The New Heaven and The New Earth as the final destination of all saints. You also believed and preached Hell as the final destination of every unrepentant sinner.
Like Paul the apostle, you have not shun to declare unto all the whole counsel of God; neither did you hold back all that was profitable unto men. You rightly divided the word for doctrine, for reproof, for correction; and for instruction in righteousness; that the people of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. You received the faith, preserved the faith and passed it on to men and women who shall be able to teach others.
